Charlotte private mailbox questions, answered
Start with the confirmed facts. When the signed agreement or current local policy controls, call for the details that apply now.
Mailbox basics
What you receive and how to address it
What is a private mailbox?
A private mailbox, or PMB, gives you an assigned mailbox number at a commercial mail receiving location. You receive a street-style mailing address and pick up mail locally under the terms of your signed mailbox agreement.
Is a private mailbox the same as a USPS PO Box?
No. This is a private mailbox rather than a USPS PO Box. Charlotte Mailbox accepts deliveries from all carriers for mailbox customers, subject to current package policies. Some participating Post Offices offer Street Addressing and private-carrier delivery, so compare the exact features available at your local Post Office.
How should I format my PMB address?
Use your name, then 3020-I Prosperity Church Rd PMB ###, followed by Charlotte, NC 28269. Replace ### with the assigned number. Use PMB or #—not “Suite”—for the private mailbox number.
Can I call to ask whether I have mail?
Yes. Call-in mail checks are available. Identity and account verification may be required before information is shared.

Identification and recipients
What identification do I need?
Each adult applicant generally needs two current, unexpired IDs: one acceptable government-issued photo ID and a different acceptable ID that verifies the physical address. The same driver’s license or state ID cannot serve as both. Call before visiting because USPS requirements can change.
How quickly can I open a mailbox?
Timing depends on current availability and completion of the required agreement, Form 1583, identification review, and any business-recipient documentation. Call first to confirm availability and what to bring.
Access and packages
Deliveries, notifications, and pickup
Can my mailbox receive packages from different carriers?
Yes. Mailbox customers can receive packages from all carriers, subject to the signed agreement and current package, signature, prohibited-item, holding, and pickup policies. Call to confirm details that matter for a specific shipment.
Will I receive a package notification?
Package-arrival notifications are available by text or email. Notification timing can vary, so do not treat a notification as guaranteed to be immediate for every delivery.
What is the difference between Secure Cabinet and a physical mailbox?
With Secure Cabinet, staff hold your mail in a secure cabinet and retrieve it for you during regular counter hours. It is the lower-cost option and does not include scanning, an online portal, or 24-hour self-service access. A physical mailbox gives you an assigned box that you can access 24 hours a day. Staffed help and package pickup follow posted counter hours for both options.
Is mail forwarding available?
Yes, paid forwarding is available for mailbox customers. Re-mailed items require new postage, and service charges and terms apply. Confirm schedules, destinations, eligibility, rates, and restrictions by phone or at signup.
Business use
Useful separation, no automatic eligibility
Can I use the address for my business?
A private mailbox can help separate business mail from a home address and present a consistent Charlotte mailing address. Whether an agency, bank, marketplace, insurer, licensing authority, or other institution accepts it for a particular purpose is that organization’s decision. Verify before relying on the address.
Can it be used as a registered-agent or government-license address?
No eligibility is promised for registered-agent, licensing, driver-license, bank-account, business-filing, Google Business Profile, or other regulated uses. Ask the responsible agency or institution what it accepts before signing up.
Prices and terms

How much does a Charlotte mailbox cost?
Secure Cabinet term totals begin at $144 for six months of Small personal service. Physical mailbox term totals begin at $180 for six months. Medium and Large business plans and twelve-month terms are also available. The selected term total and a $35 setup fee are paid in full upfront. Monthly figures are equivalents only, not monthly payment options.
Are term prices paid upfront or monthly?
The selected six- or twelve-month term total and the $35 setup fee must be paid in full upfront. The monthly amounts shown are equivalents for comparison only, not monthly payment options.
What happens to mail after I close the mailbox?
The applicant or authorized agent—not the receiving location—is responsible for arranging any permitted post-termination transfer. Any re-mailed pieces require new postage. The signed agreement controls the local procedure, so call for current details before the rental ends.
