With Secure Cabinet, staff hold your mail in a secure cabinet and retrieve it during regular counter hours. It is not a scanning or online-mailbox service. Choose a physical mailbox instead when 24-hour access to an assigned box matters. Staffed help and package pickup follow counter hours for both options.

What to prepare

USPS Form 1583 and two IDs

Each adult applicant generally completes a separate Form 1583 and presents one current government-issued photo ID plus a different current ID that verifies the physical address. Business recipients and authorized additional recipients must also be properly documented.

The signature is witnessed in the physical or authorized real-time audio/video presence of the CMRA’s owner, manager, or authorized employee, or acknowledged before a U.S.-commissioned notary. Requirements can change, so call before visiting.

It is the lower-cost option and does not include scanning, an online portal, or 24-hour self-service access. A physical mailbox gives you an assigned box that you can access 24 hours a day. Staffed help and package pickup follow posted counter hours for both options.

Can I use the address for my business?

A private mailbox can help separate business mail from a home address and present a consistent Charlotte mailing address. Whether an agency, bank, marketplace, insurer, licensing authority, or other institution accepts it for a particular purpose is that organization’s decision. Verify before relying on the address.

How much does a Charlotte mailbox cost?

Small personal service starts at $179 total upfront for six months of Secure Cabinet ($144 rental + $35 initial setup), or $215 for a physical mailbox ($180 rental + $35 initial setup). No tax or key deposit is added to these mailbox prices. Medium and Large business plans and twelve-month terms are also available. Monthly figures are equivalents only, not monthly payment options. Optional paid forwarding is quoted individually.

Is there a setup fee?

A $35 initial setup fee applies in addition to the selected rental term on standard plans. A published special offer may waive that fee under its stated terms. The rental term is paid in full upfront. There is no tax or key deposit, and no additional renewal fee.

How quickly can I open a mailbox?

Timing depends on current availability and completion of the required agreement, Form 1583, identification review, and any business-recipient documentation. Call first to confirm availability and what to bring.
